But, on the eve of humanity's first manned mission to the red planet, no amount of speculation could adequately prepare us for the unexpected discovery of cave women on Mars! It is the future. 1987.
Cave Women on Mars is the third film by Christopher R. Mihm and the third film in the Mihmiverse Shared Universe. Lovely capsular impression of CAVE WOMEN ON MARS. I wasn’t aware that it was a 2008-made spoof until I researched it further, although certain props (like the crew’s CWU-27/P flightsuits) indicated to me, as an aerospace life support specialist, that the film was, strangely, at least mid-60s’ish.
The dialogue is so spare and cynical it has not grown old-fashioned. Much of the emotional effect of Cave Women on Mars is achieved by indirection; as we leave the theater, we are absolutely convinced that the only thing keeping the world from going crazy is that the government is protecting us.
CAVE WOMEN ON MARS is another ultra-cheap and campy indie comedy. The twist is that it's supposedly a 1950s movie set in the future of 1987 with all of the retro stylings you'd expect from a film of that ilk.
This review is for the standard DVD version of Cave Women on Mars released in 2008. A warning to anybody reading this. This movie is a parody of old movies and is a tribute movie. It is intended for fans of old science fiction movies who want a good laugh.
